Charcoal Stain Over a Taupe Base With a Non-Slip Sealer on the Front Stepping Stones, Porches, and Back Walkway
Zachary Daniel Concrete stained and sealed the large concrete stepping stones that lead across the front lawn to the porch at a home in Greenville, South Carolina, along with the front porch itself, then carried the same finish to the back walkway and porch. Before staining, the surfaces were ground down with about a 30-grit hybrid, honeycomb-style pad to prepare them for color. We then applied a charcoal stain over a taupe base, which gives the stepping stones and porches a deep charcoal color with warm taupe underneath. On top of the stain, we installed a two- to three-coat sealer system mixed with plenty of non-slip aggregate, so the surfaces stay safe underfoot when it rains.
The result is a front approach that looks finished and welcoming, and a back porch the homeowners can hang out on without worrying about slippery concrete.
