Residential Balcony Concrete Grind and Seal in West Union, SC

Natural Water-Based Finish on a Lake Keowee Balcony

Zachary Daniel Concrete finished a lakefront balcony in West Union, South Carolina with a soft, low-sheen grind and seal designed to complement the view rather than compete with it. The homeowner wanted a natural look that matched the beauty of Lake Keowee, so the crew built the system around water-based sealers and coatings instead of solvent-based products.

The job started with a multi-pass grind using diamond tooling — first a coarser grit to open up the surface, then progressively finer passes to pull the scratch pattern out. This particular slab was on the softer side, so the crew added a third grinding pass to get the surface uniform. Edges and trim were knocked back by hand with both a metal hand grind and a finer honeycomb hand grind, blending the perimeter so no scratch pattern shows where the machine couldn't reach. With the surface prepped, the team sprayed a water-based sealer for a clean, even base coat — no roller lines, no streaks — then cut in the edges with the finish coat and rolled the rest of the balcony with a durable water-based coating tuned to a lower sheen.

The result is a balcony that's easy to clean, slip-resistant, and quiet enough visually to keep the focus where the homeowner wants it: out on the lake. Call Zach at (864) 770-8608 if you want this kind of finish on yours.
